social & economic justice

Our Social Justice Office advances the Congregation's justice mission through direct service to the poor, education and advocacy on behalf of the marginalized, especially women and children.

We also take action to support our corporate stances:

• Closing the Western Hemisphere Institute for Security Cooperation (WHINSEC), formerly known as the School of Americas (SOA); and 

• Abolishing the death penalty.

Adopt-a-Shelter & Women's Re-entry

The Ursuline Social Justice Office coordinates the Congregation's involvement with the Community Women's Shelter Adopt-a-Shelter program and Lutheran Ministries' Women's Re-Entry Network. Sisters plan and lead activities and run collection drives to help meet the women's needs at both organizations. They also provide several meals for the women at the shelter several times a year.
