Ursuline Derby Day

Frequently Asked Questions

Ursuline Derby Day

Will there be an Ursuline Derby Day 2021?
As of today, our annual benefit for 2021 is on track to happen! HOWEVER, this year it will be a Preakness Party rather than a Kentucky Derby Party. So save the date! May 15, 2021

Why is the event changed to the Preakness?
Due to the scheduling of the NFL draft, First Energy Stadium is not able to accommodate us on the first Saturday in May, but rest assured it will be the same exciting, enjoyable evening you’ve come to know and love in our Ursuline Derby Day!

Will it be in-person or virtual?
As of today we are happy to say our event will be person, complying with all safety protocols. There will be, however, opportunities to participate in some elements on line for your convenience.

What safety protocols will be in place at First Energy Stadium to reduce the risk of spreading COVID -19?
First Energy Stadium and Aramark Catering have assured us that the safety of our guests is top priority. Sanitizing, table spacing, food serving, temperature taking, and mask requirements will all be in place. Your safety as well as the safety of our sisters and volunteers is our top priority as well. We are creating contactless alternatives to our event procedures/games. The stadium requires all attendees to sign a GENERAL RELEASE OF LIABILITY AND ASSUMPTION OF RISK upon entering the building.

Can you describe the security screening process?
Each guest will have to walk through metal detectors and place personal belongings in a bin.

May I attend and sit with a group? Is there a limited number of attendees allowed for the event?
Eight people per table is First Energy’s limit for seating. The maximum capacity in the space, for now, is 300.

Will all the elements of Ursuline Derby Day be included in this Preakness Party?
Yes! Just like in previous years we will have dozens of baskets in our gift basket raffle. We will also have our horserace raffle, wine pull, 50/50 and live auction. A delicious meal and full bar* is planned as well.

Is there a lot of walking necessary to enter the event?
There is about a 4 minute walk from the valet to the room entrance. However, the stadium can have wheelchairs available if needed outside with Guest Services assisting.

Is there an alternative parking option if I do not wish to use the valet?
Yes! If you are not comfortable with complimentary valet, there is a paid parking lot that will be available: North Coast Harbor Lot (yellow) -$6.00. Guests can pay using the "paybyphone" app available in the Apple App Store or Google Play or pay on line at paybyphone.com.

Can I receive a refund?
Yes. If you cannot make the event, or if you feel sick and/or might have been exposed to the coronavirus, we can designate your purchase as an outright donation to the Ursuline Sisters or we will be happy to refund your admission price. Just call Sister Elaine @ 440 229 5624.

I don’t want to attend public gatherings right now, but would like to contribute. Do I have any options?
Yes! As you browse through the event pages on this website you will find a number of ways you can be part of the fun while supporting your Ursuline Sisters. Check back to the website often as we may be adding more opportunities in the days ahead.
