God is crazy in love with us.

Really! Look and see for yourself.

The Gospel of John on most of the Sundays and weekdays of Easter proclaim the incredible love God has for us. These Gospel passages are taken from Jesus’ Last Supper discourse. They could just as well be called a love letter from God to us.

More than once, Jesus promises to abide in us, and promises that the Spirit and the Father will also abide in us if we just obey his commandment to love one another as he loves us. A simple command, but not easy! (I suspect we already know that. We may often fall short, yet God still loves us.)

We will never be abandoned: “I will not leave you orphans.”

Christ desires intimacy with those who love him: “Those who love me will be loved by my Father, and I will love them and reveal myself to them.”

We will always have a home: “I go to prepare a place for you.”

We are precious: “It was not you who chose me, but I who chose you and appointed you to go out and bear fruit that will remain.”

We are heard: “Whatever you ask the Father in my name, he will give you.”

You will find these passages and more in the Gospel of John, Chapters 14 through 17. I suggest you read it slowly, aloud to yourself. Pause when something strikes you. Let the word touch your heart.

And remember: God is crazy in love with you!
