For a long time, autumn has been my favorite season. The sky is a different shade of blue, a little lighter and less intense than the height of summer. The air is crisper. The changing colors of the leaves begin gradually and soon burst into brilliant reds and yellows. If I don’t pay attention, I miss the colorful height of the season and soon branches are bare and skies are becoming gray.

Perhaps that is the lesson of autumn: pay attention! Don’t take the present circumstance for granted. Everything changes. CHANGE is truly the only constant in our lives.

Autumn also reminds us that everything dies, but not forever. We know from our experience of spring that life will return in all of its glory. Creation offers us a pattern for our lives: Pay attention! Be grateful for the life around you for as long as you have it; it’s precious. And have hope that life will return in glory.

Enjoy the seasons of the earth and the seasons of your life. And be grateful.
