I am feeling a need to speak about meditation.

Meditation is sitting in silence and listening. Listen without judgment of self or others. Listen for the quiet voice that comes on the breeze with what the Hebrews called “Ruha”. Be. Just sit and Be. Don’t plan, don’t reminisce or mull over why something happened.

Be a good listener in meditation. The listening keeps the mind from wandering. Be alert for the quiet encouragement to go forth and find situations where love and hope are most needed.

Be kind to yourself. God doesn’t judge us so we must avoid self judgment.

Be loving to yourself. God loves us unconditionally. Our love of ourselves calls for compassion. Where guilt arises, acknowledge what we have done. Send good energy to the person we feel we may have harmed with speech or actions and return to listening.

If someone hurts us, acknowledge that we have probably done the same. Send good energy and return to listening.

Listening is the “still point”. It is the greatest time of openness to receive compassion and love.

Meditation is listening.
