Easter Monday
In a strange confluence of dates April 1 Easter Monday and April Fools- day are the same day.
What has April Fools -day to do with Easter Monday? I Investigated a bit.
Vernal Equinox and Mother Nature’s Tricks: April Fools’ Day was once tied to the vernal equinox, the first day of spring in the Northern Hemisphere.
During this time, Mother Nature often fooled people with unpredictable weather changes.
The connection between the two can be understood this way:
Easter Monday signals the return of the light of God to sinful world in the person of the resurrected Jesus. Jesus’ resurrection fooled those who refused to believe in the empty tomb and what it meant.
My examination of these two days helped me to see their disparity and similarity.
I hope it has helped you as well.
I know that Easter Monday will never mean quite the same for me again.
