A while ago I came to our Motherhouse to receive treatment for a foot injury. A little homesickness set in: for the people and the ministry I had to leave.

My perception changed with a scripture verse I read: “…abide in Me as I abide in you.” John 15:4. A reflection on that phrase from the Catholic Youth Bible states, “to abide means to stay with or make our home with.”

In other words, to abide with Jesus is to be ultimately at home wherever I may be. St. Catherine of Sienna says “all the way to heaven is heaven because God is with us.” This sense of being at home here and wherever I am has continued to grow in my heart.

And, oh, yes, the foot got better, thanks to God, the Ursulines, and Dr. E. Ross.
