Come to the well and drink deeply. The metaphorical walk is one taking the time to sit quietly in meditation- in the quiet. Answers for life’s problems are not “out there” They are within ourselves. Trust that the voice heard in the silence comes from the Christ Consciousness,

Jesus is the Christ Consciousness. What we Christians seek answers for is contained in Jesus’ words. Not the interpretations tainted by shades of the times, but his original words. Jesus said:” I am the way, and the truth and the life” (John 14:6)

We are called to be grounded in the Gospels. “Grounded” is the key word. A simple way to sit with the Gospels is Lectio Divina. As Jesuit Fr. Douglas Leonhardt says: “ We have a teacher in the Holy Spirit.” He reminds us that Jesus said: “The Holy Spirit. . . will teach you everything and remind you of all I have said to you.” John14:25-26.

The Lectio Divina invites us to listen with our hearts. Simply, we choose a Scripture passage and read it, then we sit in quiet. If a word or phrase touches our heart, we sit with it. An insight, a feeling or an understanding may come to us. Then read it again. This time if a dialogue begins with you and God- go with it. Follow the promptings of the heart.

It takes time to sit quietly, but it is well worth it. It can be the most important time of your day.
