Prophets of Communion

The Leadership Team recently attended the Annual Assembly of the Leadership Conference of Women Religious (LCWR). Sister Elise Garcia, O.P. gave the presidential address, and we were profoundly moved. It was a weighty, uncompromising call to grow in relationality with all of God’s people. Elise called us to learn and tell our unvarnished history and to take into prayer the experience of those who have been enslaved just as we have other mystics from the ages. Although the address was given to women religious, it challenges the conscience and consciousness of each of us who claim to follow the crucified Christ. Compassionate One, may we stand at the foot of the cross, repent of our sinful past and commit ourselves to acts of courage in dismantling the racism of our hearts and our history.
