Back to weekly reflections
Someone once wrote: We ripen in holiness and spiritual fulfillment as we learn to sit in the sun of God’s mysterious, sustaining presence that energizes and guides our efforts.
There is something about these words that brings warmth and comfort to my soul. But then I remember the wind of life’s everyday experiences whirling around each of us. The activities and encounters of our everyday lives often make us struggle for those moments to sit in the sun of God’s presence. Each news report we hear can raise our anxiety levels, our fears, our anger about the treatment of our brothers and sisters in our city and our world. The peace of sitting the sun of God’s presences can be shattered.
These are just a few experiences that make the time we have to soak up the mysterious and sustaining presence of God all the more valuable. Slowly we gain a new way of being. We walk with God every moment of the day. The events that disrupt our peaceful spirits are calmed by knowing that God’s mysterious, sustaining presence that energizes and guides our efforts. Afterall, God made us in the image and likeness of God.
Our life’s journey is to continue to ripen in holiness and spiritual fulfillment as we learn to sit in the sun of God’s mysterious, sustaining presence.
