Back to weekly reflections
Spring is beginning to blossom…resurrection all around us!
Johnnie, a typical 5 year old child being brought up in our age of technology, one day, was very concerned to the point of upset. He immediately ran to his mother and cried out, “Mom, I think I may be running out of my charge. Where do I go? How do I plug myself in? I don’t want to die!”
“You know, Mom, he said, after considerable thought. What about all the trees? Where do they get plugged in? What about the little bushes? They can’t need too much charge to stay alive! And, how often should we plug in Peterkins our doggie? Tell me where all the chargers are kept. We need to take care of this.”
The child was obviously very upset and desperately wanted to know the where and the how to keep life flowing, especially for himself. Technology taught him that everything had a plug and chargers were very important. They must be somewhere.
The mother sat him down and told him about such a loving God that keeps everything, even him, fully charged, and at no cost. Even the tiny flowers. She told the child to look deeply into the center of things and that everything reveals has the aliveness of joy, of Presence.
Jesus turned, saw disciples following him, and asked, “What are you looking for?” They answered, “Where do you live, Rabbi?” “Come and see,” he answered. John 1: 38-39
