Surrender To Love

On Tuesday, August 20th I participated on line with an Intention Experiment led by Lynne McTaggart (info@lynnemctaggart.com) for our upcoming election.

Our intention was “for the American Presidential and other elections to proceed peacefully and with dignity so that the candidates focus on political issues….and for peace and unity to prevail among the population.”

Our hope was to cool down this election and heal our own lives. From past experiments, up to 50% of the participants report that they have a positive effect on their own lives. I wholeheartedly encourage all of us to keep this intention in our hearts daily as we meditate and pray.

Living from our hearts is certainly our basic call today. Jack Kornfield calls it Cultivating the Awakened Heart. And he says: “When we look at the challenges in our world –climate change, political division, inequality, it’s easy to feel overwhelmed. That’s precisely the moment to call on the Awakened Heart.” (info@jackkornfield.com)

This Awakened Heart gives us the courage to stay engaged, even when it is difficult. It allows us to see humanity in those we disagree with. It fuels the creativity and compassion needed to find solutions.

On a personal level, cultivating the Awakened Heart transforms our relationships. It allows one to forgive more readily, to love more fully It helps one break free from old patterns of reactivity and judgment.

As we live from our hears, our presence is an invitation for others to connect to their own hearts. Our personal practice is about remembering who we truly are beneath the busyness and noise of everyday life.

As Rumi says: “Our task is not to seek for love, but merely to seek and find all the barriers within ourselves that we have built against it.”

This is our call: the time is now!
