Biography

(Formerly Sister M. Nativa)

Sister Colette joined the Ursuline community from St. Philomena Parish, East Cleveland. Early in her 52-year ministry career, she taught primary grades at St. Clare (Lyndhurst), St. Joseph (Collinwood), St. Frances de Sales (Parma), St. Catherine (Cleveland) and Christ the King (East Cleveland). She ministered many years at Ursuline College, in the Registrar’s Office and in the library. She also served as congregational archivist, and was a volunteer for the ArtSpace ministry and Esperanza Threads.

Sister Colette worked tirelessly for more than 20 years to fight against Ohio’s Death Penalty. She spent many hours standing on street corners encouraging people to sign petitions when it was not very popular and traveling five hours each way to Lucasville to protest peacefully during executions standing outside in any kind of weather. A true advocate for life.
